Jeremy Bearer-Friend
Stanford Law SchoolLawEver since joining his high school's Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA), Jeremy Bearer-Friend has worked to improve educational opportunities for marginalized youth. He has taught part-time in public schools, private schools, home schools, after-school programs, museums, colleges and prisons. These experiences in the classroom continue to inspire his activism, including his previous efforts as Lead Organizer of a statewide ballot initiative campaign to freeze tuition at all public universities in California. Jeremy has also served as the Co-Lead Trainer of the People for the American Way's national youth summit and as an education policy consultant to the National Governors Association. Jeremy is an incoming J.D. student at Stanford Law School and a Ph.D. candidate at UC Berkeley's School of Education. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Brown University in 2006. He aspires to become a tax law professor and use his specialized tax knowledge to help create a more just society. |
