Daniel OsheyackAs vice president, philanthropic initiatives for Time Warner Inc., Daniel J. Osheyack is responsible for oversight of the company’s grant-making in education and the arts, and the strategic positioning and communication of Time Warner’s philanthropic efforts to a variety of the company’s constituents. Dan came to this Time Warner position in December of 2004 and since that time, through solid partnerships and a mission-driven focus has elevated Time Warner’s position in the philanthropic landscape of New York City. As a result of Dan’s efforts, Time Warner was named to the Business Committee for the Arts(BCA) 2006 list of top ten companies supporting the arts in America, and the following year the company was inducted into the BCA Hall of Fame. In November of 2007, Mayor Bloomberg presented Time Warner with the Mayor’s Award for Arts and Culture for its leadership in support of the Arts in New York City. On the Education front, Dan has led the reshaping of Time Warner’s funding to focus on the nurturing of diverse talent and support of college-prep initiatives. In 2006-2007, He also conceived, created and launched the Time Warner Principals of Excellence Awards, a city-wide program that recognized talented leaders in the city’s public schools. The program recognized five principals and presented each with a $25,000 grant for use in their schools. Prior to his move to Time Warner Corporate, Dan was associate publisher/marketing for Time Inc.’s People, responsible for the strategic marketing, brand promotion, event programming and advertising sales development of the world's most popular magazine. Prior to People, which he joined in June of 1998, Dan worked at sister publication, Entertainment Weekly, where, as a member of the EW launch team, he oversaw that magazine's marketing and promotion efforts. Dan joined Time Inc. in 1980 as a promotion copywriter at Money magazine. He left as its promotion manager in August 1989 to work as the first promotion manager of Entertainment Weekly prior to its launch in February 1990. He was named promotion director in 1991, vice president, promotion and public affairs in 1993 and associate publisher of Entertainment Weekly in 1997. Dan is credited with shaping EW's brand identity in the advertising, entertainment and not-for-profit communities. |
