Lawrence completed his undergraduate at Claremont-McKenna College as a Point Scholar, earning an honors degree in religious studies and government.  His activities included, among others, co-founding an LGBT mentorship program, serving as media relations associate at the ACLU National Legislative Office immediately after 9/11, and working on community of color issues at the HRC earned him selection as a Point Scholar to continue his legal education at New York University.  At NYU he earned membership to the Law Review, was active within the social justice community, and worked within Governor Janet Napolitano’s Office. He also served as the 2005-2006 National Lesbian & Gay Law Association liaison to the American Bar Association’s Law Student Division and is a current at-large member of their board of directors.  He is currently a staff attorney with the Brooklyn Family Defense Project, providing a holistic approach to legal services within underserved communities and gaining valuable hands-on litigation and public-policy experience.
